KFC: The 30 Day Batman Challenge-Day 6

In contrast to yesterday's question, now we have: Least Favorite Batman sidekick?

I know that this is a fan favorite answer, but I couldn't resist. Jason Todd, the second Robin, quite simply live up to Dick Grayson. Following the first and most legendary second hand to Batman couldn't be easy. But Todd's snappy attitude and violent approach didn't click well with Bruce. Sure, yesterday, the differences were highlighted among Grayson and Wayne. But ultimately, the two respected each other enough to learn from one another. Todd didn't respect Batman enough, and he eventually paid for it.

Subject to the now infamous phone call voting incident, Todd was beaten to near death by the Joker and died in an explosion that rocked Batman's world. The media was outraged at the decision to kill such a legendary namesake, even though they left out the fact that it was not the original Robin and instead an unpopular successor. His death shocked Batman himself, who carried guilt for years about letting the boy die. Eventually, he got a new and improved Robin, Tim Drake.

For a long time, Jason Todd's death proved to be one of the few in comics that held up and stayed so. However, Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee's epic Batman: Hush suddenly cast doubts about whether or not the character was really dead. He came back on to the scene as the Red Hood, an outlaw vigilante who frequently did battle with Batman. He continues to hold a tenuous relationship with the Dark Knight and his extended family.

His general attitude towards both Batman and the world makes him a very repulsive and disgusting character. Even Damian Wayne, who holds many of the similar personal problems as Todd, at least has the ability to take orders and play by some sort of moral code. Screw Jason Todd now and forever. It's too bad he couldn't have stayed dead.
