KFC: The 30 Day Batman Challenge-Day 9

Today's Question: Favorite Batman artist?

It's hard to make Batman look stale on the page. In fact, the number of great artists of the character are too great to count. This is kind of an abstract answer but it works for me. Although Jim Lee is very close to reaching this distinction, as I had him as the originator of my favorite Batman costume, Bruce Timm's artistic take on the character stands as a man among boys.

Timm originally wanted to be a comic book artist, but found his way into the animation field. Eventually, he became a producer on various TV shows, like Tiny Toon Adventures. In one of the greatest of ironies, he found himself creating the Batman Animated Series, which you would find as quite a favorite of our's here at Mezzo Culture, with our TV show favorites post attesting to this. He ended up setting up the DC animated universe (DCAU). I could create several gushing blog-posts about how much I love that. But I digress...

Timm's designs for the characters and Gotham itself were reflected in the show to great effect. Also, he did art in several Batman Animated Series tie-in books over the years. His art-deco tone and minimalist style brought out decades old characters in only the best of ways. Kudos to Timm and the fantastic look he gave Batman.
